Episode One – Wednesday 26 October 2016

Morgan

Twenty seven year old teacher, Morgan, joined by her large entourage of aunties and cousins, visited Brides of Sydney to choose her dream wedding gown.

Morgan had a budget of $3000 and wanted a flowing, mermaid style gown to suit her rustic wedding in Mudgee. Her mum however wanted a strapless, slinky, figure hugging and backless gown – the complete opposite of what Morgan wanted! Morgan’s aunties wanted to see the tattoos of her dead cat and sister’s names on her back covered. Sharon and Adam definitely had their work cut out for them!

First, Morgan tried on gown from the Allure Woman’s collection. This collection offers a stunning collection of wedding dresses which are perfect for our curvy brides. She loved the “bling” on the top, and it managed to cover up the tattoos. However, it was not enough coverage for Aunty Kath, who wanted to see Morgan in a more classic look.

Sharon is a strong and vibrant bridal consultant who has worked in the industry for thirty years. As a mum of six, she brings warmth, knowledge and a sense of calm in her role when dealing with brides to be. Sharon was pleased that Morgan was open to trying on a variety of styles. They tried on the mermaid style, Allure Women W372. It has delicate Swarovski beadwork, which adds dimension to this strapless tulle gown.

Once again, it was too revealing for Morgan’s conservative aunties! Pleasing Morgan’s family was really proving to be quite the challenge, but Adam and Sharon persevered and suggested Morgan try the Allure Women W377. With it’s delicate mermaid silhouette, it was at once, glamorous and figure-flattering! She immediately felt like a bride and knew this was the one. Sharon and Adam could tell as soon as she put it on, that she was in love. Morgan’s mum even shed a few tears. “When you see a mum tearing up, you know you’re on point” said Adam. It was a resounding YES TO THE DRESS from the entire entourage!

Congratulations Morgan, you looked amazing in your gown. We can’t wait to see you and Jeff all dressed up in your wedding day photographs. The Brides of Sydney team did a great job working though all the different opinions, and managed to please everyone, especially Morgan!

Talina

Twenty-two year old, mum of two Talina, was very excited to visit Brides of Sydney with her sisters. With a maximum budget of $2500, Leesa and Adam needed to find the perfect “big puffy, sparkly, really out there” gown for Talina.

Talina tried on Y21246 by Sophia Tolli first. This is a strapless lace and tulle, fit and flare gown has exquisite hand-placed lace covering the bodice. It’s pleated tulle adds detail to an uncomplicated skirt, and it is accentuated with trailing lace appliqués that wistfully fade out before the hem. It has a satin belt with flower detail, corset back and chapel length train. Talina immediately loved the lace and wanted to get an opinion from her sisters.

There were plenty of “wows” when she came out of the dressing room, however they thought it was not doing justice to her fantastic figure.

Talina spotted a gown on a mannequin and absolutely fell in love, however it was quite a way out of her budget at $RRP4499, but she decided to try it on anyway. The SOPHIA TOLLI Y11652 is a two-piece lace and misty tulle wedding dress set. It has a strapless sweetheart lace sheath with lightly hand-beaded lace appliqués placed in a shadowbox method and a court length train. The detachable misty tulle full A-line overskirt with beaded belt and chapel length train complete the set.

When she saw herself in the mirror, she knew this gown was the one. She felt like a princess with the big tulle and fitted body and did not want to take it off! Loving it was far easier than actually paying for it. Her heart dropped when she heard the price. Hoping to find a second love, Talina tried on an the Allure Bridals 9250. The gorgeous mermaid shape,  fabric colour and feminine, soft lace ticked all the boxes. Her sisters loved it as well, but there wasn’t enough sparkle for Talina.

They loved the Allure Bridals gown, but loved the Sophia Tolli still had all their hearts.

Leesa has worked in the bridal industry for almost 20 years and isn’t afraid to tell it as it is. She loves helping her brides to be, and often mothers and protects them. She managed to find a way to get Talina the gown of her dreams, but at a price that she could afford. Talina once again tried on the Sophia Tolli Y11652, this time without the overskirt. Her sisters faces said it all, they were all over the moon to see her in the dress. With the overskirt taken off, it was only just over the budget, and worth every cent. We are so happy that Talina said YES TO HER DRESS! It’s exactly what she pictured herself walking down the isle in and we think it’s the perfect gown for her.

Danielle

Danielle came into Brides of Sydney for her final fitting. Her entourage was there to help troubleshoot as she was hoping to have everything sorted in time for her big day. She had always wanted the Disney Princess look and managed to find an Allure Bridals gown at Brides of Sydney that was perfect!

During her fitting, she was worried that the shoulders of her dress were falling off. Our expert dressmaker, Veronica who has worked in the bridal industry for more than thirty years came to the rescue. Previously a bridal buyer and a dressmaker, when it comes to creating custom changes to gowns, Veronica really knows her stuff.

Veronica managed to fix the sleeves on Danielle’s gown and also added some ribbon under her arm so that she was comfortable on her wedding day. Congratulations Danielle, you looked beautiful on your wedding day, just like a Disney Princess!
