Episode Two – Wednesday 2 November 2016
Vanessa, and her big Italian family do everything together and wedding gown shopping at Brides of Sydney was no exception!
With a moody, enchanted, forest theme wedding on the cards, Vanessa pictured herself in a fitted gown, sintched at the waist with some subtle lace detail. Being Catholic and due to have the ceremony in a Church, Vanessa’s mum was keen for the dress to be modest, yet also show off Vanessa’s beautiful figure. Vanessa’s Aunty however, would prefer to see her in something sexy, but not too sexy… “Sexy is for later!” said Mum. Vanessa’s family were going to be honest and brutal, Leesa definitely had a challenge on her hands.
Determined to please her Mum, Vanessa tried on Allure Bridals 9260. With beautiful scalloped lace edges the neckline and a sheer illusion panel accents the back, we can’t decide if we love the front or back of this gown the most! “I did want her to cover up…” Mum said, but the rest of Vanessa’s family felt that the gown was a little bit too covered.
Vanessa then tried on Allure Romance 2803. A textural lace bodice and smooth taffeta skirt are the perfect pair for this architectural mermaid bridal gown. Vanessa loved the waistline, and was excited to show the girls. There were lots of WOWs when Vanessa walked out of the dressing room. Vanessa loved the bodice and satin skirt, but was not in love with the gown.
Taking a page out of Audrey Hepburn’s book, Vanessa tried on the Madison James MJ103. This satin wedding gown has a striking focal point, the double keyhole back, complete with playful jeweled bows. Her mum loved this dress! It showed off Vanessa’s curves and was classic, yet slinky. Mum was worried that the statement back could be a little bit low, and the priest may have a heart attack during the ceremony! “Do you love this gown enough?” asked Leesa. As much as she loved the bottom, Vanessa was not sure about the top, and could not say Yes to the dress. Unfortunately Vanessa did not find her dream dress this time, so off they went to get some burgers.
Good luck Vanessa we hope you find the gown of your dreams. Wishing you and David a wonderful wedding day.
“Whether you’ve got $1000 or $10000, every bride should feel like a princess when they’re looking for their wedding gown. I really love when I put a dress on somebody, and you can just see in their face, they can’t believe how beautiful they look.” – Adam
Kira, a 28 year old primary school teacher from Central Coast NSW, visited Brides of Sydney with her sister and bridesmaids. She, and fiancé Joseph were planning an intimate wedding with close family and friends at Harbourview in Newcastle. Kira was looking for a gown that showed off her curves, but wanted to remain quite covered on top. With a budget of only $1000, Rosalie admitted that, “it’s going to be a bit difficult!”
Wedding gowns come in all shapes and sizes, and of course a range of budgets as well. However out of a thousand gowns at Brides of Sydney, only eight were within her budget, and of these eight, only three were in Kira’s size. Everyone was crossing their fingers that Kira fell in love with one of these three gowns!
The first two sample gowns were almost there, but not perfect. Then came the third sample, a beautiful strapless A line, looked amazing on Kira. Rosalie did her hair up, put a beautiful veil on, and there were tears all round when Kira walked out of the dressing room. “A bride knows the moment it goes over body, she knows when it is right.” Said Rosalie. The dress was immaculate on her, everything from the draping around waist, to the interest and drama on bottom and the modest bust line. At $999 it could not have been more perfect.
Meredith, from North Sydney visited Brides of Sydney for her final fitting. She brought her friends along to give their opinions on her chosen gown. Prior to this, she had been very secretive, so her friends were in for a surprise! Meredith chose the beautiful Allure Bridals 9114. The highlight of this bridal gown is the sheer-illusion back and neckline, sprinkled with embroidery and beading. The slight cap sleeve, gauzy English net skirt and lace appliqué complete this gown.
During the fitting, Meredith felt the gown fitted well at the bottom, but the top was a little big. It was time for Veronica, our expert dressmaker to work her magic.
The alterations to the gown were perfect and Meredith felt amazing in it, like she was walking on air!
“When I saw Meredith in the dress for the first time, I thought she looked absolutely stunning,” said husband Scott.
Congratulations Meredith and Scott, we hope you had a magnificent wedding day.
