Episode Four – Wednesday 16th November 2016
“Some brides think about their wedding for years, and they’ve got a really strong view of what their dress should look like. But when they bring too many people, all of those voices often drown out the person who we really need to listen to, and that’s the bride!” – Adam
Alison visited Brides of Sydney with 3 bridesmaids, her mother in law, 2 sister in laws, and her adopted mum. Her’s mum passed away when Alison was 19 years old, and she wanted to make sure she chose a gown that she knew her mum would have loved.
Alison was planning the wedding ceremony at the stunning St Mary’s Cathedral in Hyde Park. She had some rough ideas about what she wanted her gown to look like, but was not sure which direction to go in. On one hand, she was considering a big ballgown and on the other, she quite liked the idea of a fitted gown with lace. “She can be quite indecisive,” said her bridesmaid, so hence brought everyone along for their greatly valued opinions. Adam was worried that having this many voices would confuse Alison, she may want to try to please everyone, except herself. With a budget of around $5000, Sharon and Adam were both confident they could work their way through the choices, and find something that Alison would truly adore.
First they tried a classic ball gown, the Casablanca Couture B081. The bodice and skirt on this gown feature all over embroidered appliques on tulle. It has a modified sweetheart neckline with inverted ruching, which adds softness to the front and back bodice. A beautifully beaded applique with an array of Swarovski Crystals, rhinestones, and pearls sits at the natural waist of this ball gown skirt. Crystal buttons finish the back of the bodice.
This gown is perfect for a cathedral wedding, but now it was time to see what everyone thought. Alison liked the fabric, the beautiful belt and champagne colour. Reactions to the colour and silhouette were mixed, so they decided to try something completely different.
Sharon suggested the Allure Romance 2814. Nothing looks better with a sleek bridal gown than sparkling, dramatic embroidery. This satin wedding gown was no exception! Alison instantly loved it and wanted to see what her entourage thought.
They loved the back and the gorgeous neckline, they made a unanimous decision that the ball gown was out, and a slinky dress was in! Alison was worried that the satin fabric may show any lumps and bumps, so they decided to try something in a similar silhouette but different fabric.
Adam had an idea of a gown that combined everything that everyone wanted! He suggested Alison try on the Allure Couture C291. This dreamy lace wedding gown features a subtle train and deep V back, as well as delicate beading throughout the wedding gown.
Adam pointed out, “People are staring at your back for a long time in a church, so it’s important to make it a really nice feature.” Alison loved that this was a really easy and fun dress to wear, she could dance and have a good time and always look great doing it. The addition of a veil sealed the deal, it was perfect! Alison remembered that her mum had worn a lacy dress on her own wedding day, which reminded Alison of this gown. It was a resounding YES to the dress, as everyone including Sharon shed a few tears!
Congratulations on finding your dream gown Alison, we know your mum would be so proud of you.
Ann Maree, a doctor and self confessed fitness fanatic came into Brides of Sydney to find her dream dress. She described it as sophisticated, elegant, flowing yet form fitting, and definitely sexy! Her budget was around $5000 – $6000, but would go higher for the perfect dress. Anne Maree was joined by her mother, mother in law and three friends.
“Mum is very conservative, and would like to see me in a Kate Middleton style gown,” confessed Anne Maree. Rosalie was concerned that Ann Maree was is untimely the one wearing the dress, and it’s her day, so hoped they could find something perfect.
Adam agreed to start with a gown to satisfy Ann Maree’s mum and go from there. They tried on the Sophie Tolli Y21518- Brandyn. An Aurora chiffon a line wedding dress with hand-beaded sheer cap sleeves and bateau neckline, sweetheart bodice with vintage inspired embroidery and sparkling crystal beading, sheer back bodice with V-neckline, chapel length train and back zipper trimmed with diamante buttons.
“That’s lovely!” said Mum. Everyone thought it was beautiful, but her bridesmaids admitted that it was a bit conservative and didn’t show off Ann Maree’s amazing assets! “Enough with Kate middleton!” Said Anne Marie.
Next Ann Maree tried on Eddy K – CT143 – This wedding dress has hand beading and embroidery from top to bottom over champagne tulle, with a satin lining underneath it. Adam liked to call it the Gatsby gown. It was dazzling, unique and glamorous, with just a touch of vintage.
Everyone loved the gown, but were all talking at once, Ann Maree didn’t know who to listen to! Poor Ann Maree was confused, she was now second guessing everything. Adam just needed to show her something else, to make her realise that the Gatsby gown is the one for her.
They tried on the Allure Bridals 8800 – This 2 piece bridal gown features a charmeuse slip and lace appliqué overlay adorned with embroidery and crystals.
“To me the standout is still the Gatsby dress,” said Adam. He suggested she try on the Eddy K – CT143 again because it was covered enough to keep mum happy, and sexy enough to keep Adam happy!
After they put it on again, it just felt right. Adding accessories, like the veil and bouquet gave everyone goosebumps. “YES!” said mum, this reaction confirmed that this was the one. Her friends and family were ecstatic.
Congratulations Ann Marie, we wish yourself and Lee all the very best for your wedding day, you are going to look spectacular!
Courtney from Newcastle came to see Veronica for her final fitting. Her mum along with bridesmaid Gemma joined her. Courtney had been on a long journey to find the gown of her dreams, trying on over 60 or 70 dresses before she found the one.
The gown that she chose was Allure Bridals 8769 – Signature Allure embroidery and Swarovski crystals make this bridal gown stunning. The fitted bodice features a sweetheart neckline, ruched organza, and rich embellishment throughout. It was the one Courtney and her Mum cried over. It made her feel confident and gave her a great shape.
During the fitting, Veronica agreed that the gown needed to be taken up at the bottom, some beading on the bodice needed to be removed under her arms and Courtney also wanted to add a few details to the skirt. Veronica made sure that all her requests were possible, and the gown was everything she’d ever dreamed of and more.
Courtney and her fiancé Nick were high school sweethearts; she had been waiting 10 years for her wedding day to arrive! Nick was overwhelmed with excitement and joy when he saw her walking down the isle. It had taken her so many dresses to find the perfect one, but it finally happened, and 10 years later she is having her perfect day also. Congratulations Courtney, you were stunning!
